| Some of your rugs list their age as 20-30
years or more. When is an area rug considered to be an antique?
While most of the rugs we offer are new, we do carry many rugs that are not new. We
mark them as follows:
- 0-10 years
- 10-20 years
- 20-30 years
- 30-40 years
- 40-50 years
- 50-75 years
The 30-40 year range is considered semi-antique and anything over 40 years is truly
antique.
Our suppliers buy only the finest antique area rugs on the secondary market throughout
the world. Where needed, the rugs have been cleaned and/or restored.
These buyers are very skilled at examining and valuing these rugs and only buy the ones
that have lightest wear and highest value. Often they are found in museums or palaces, have
almost no wear and possess a collector's "romance". Like a Tiffany lamp, a Rolex watch or
a '68 Corvette Stingray - they have retained great value because they are of very high
quality and were made to last. |
