This Palatine rug features a cotton foundation with woolen weft and a wool and silk pile for superb pliability and a very soft hand. The pile is a blend of 60% silk and 40% handspun, high quality, long fiber New Zealand wool, spun without the use of machines. Few artisans are skilled enough to create pieces for this wool and silk collection. Hand-spun, hand-sorted New Zealand wool is woven together with premiere hand-selected Chinese silk at as many as 200 knots per square inch, creating a beautifully designed and painstakingly crafted work of art. Each piece shimmers like a finely cut diamond and is the embodiment of perfection in area rugs of all kinds. Since this rug is made by hand, its colors will vary slightly between dye lots and it will possess slight differences in pattern.
